another february day

I am trying to remind myself that spring is coming. The weather is even cooperating and reminding me with the sun and warm weather yesterday and today that the days really are getting longer. It's just the hormonal dark days are so strong sometimes.

Got Margaret off at Dulles on her long journey taking her to Palmerston North for school for a bit. And now I've got 2 extra dogs for the weekend. The 3 dogs were all rather pooped when I left the house after a long run this morning. A beautiful morning, too, saw probably 30 deer when I still had them all on leash, thank goodness. Eventually will get some photos up. Not now.

february cold & wet

It is rather disgusting out today. Yesterday was just as bad, or maybe a little worse since the ground was wet and slick. Today the temperature is a wee bit up and so it's mostly wet, or well, soggy.
The final 24 hours for my sister before heading off to New Zealand for an adventure in vet school. Hoping the weather people actually have it right for once and tomorrow is sunny for her departure. I know both Dix and Laurens will desperately miss her once she's gone. I will miss her hugely since I've barely seen her in the last 2 and half years. And with her staying with me for 2 weeks, it's been really nice to have her back in my life. I know so selfish of me. Dix will miss unexpected day long trips to Bville. And Laurens will miss having another person to keep track of and a room full of stuff to explore. But life goes on.
What with the wetness, no agility class tonight. I have a new session of 7 dogs starting up, so that'll be fun. And if the weather cooperates Dix and I will get back to some agility after quite a bit of the winter off, mostly due to weather. Ahh, winter in global warming-ed VA.

Well, not having a computer with internet access at home certainly makes it more difficult to get some posts up. So, life has been dishy and peachy. Or really, I just wanted to say that. Here it is the end of the first month of a new year and what has changed? Not as much as I'd like. But, hey, I'm working on it. I have a project with torn paper that I've been working on for several days, but now I have to figure out encaustic paints. As an untrained artist trying to create something from my head with not a lot of experience to draw from, it's rather interesting. I want to add a different dimension to the paper layers by moving to encaustics paints. It's kind of exciting to think about. Now, just to figure out what exactly I need to get going with a new medium. That was a lot of babble about not much. Oh well.
